A Suggested Color Coding System For Marking Your Bible Using The PENTEL 8 COLOR PENCIL To enhance, direct and focus your mind during Bible study, it is helpful to mark neatly and distinctly the differing ideas presented in God’s Word. This can easily be done using a color coding system. Using a color coding system will help you to slow down, and think more about what God’s Word is saying to you personally. It will also help you to find topics and references easily in the future. Try this suggested system or make up your own. • RED represents the power and blood of Christ, which washes away our sins. It is also used for His promises, or anything to do with God. This color is used to help us clearly see what God’s work is and what He will do to save us. • BLUE represents obedience in the sanctuary. As Christians, we have been born again, and are to live new lives. This color is used to help us clearly identify what God wants us [through His grace and power] to do and to be. • PINK is used to denote a child’s part or anything specific to infants and children. • ORANGE represents God’s warnings, cautions, reproofs, or corrections. • BROWN is used for Satan’s wrong ways of life. Brown highlights the thoughts, words or actions that are evil. Evil is any selfishness. Brown is likened to the dirt from which we need to be cleansed. • GREEN highlights anything to do with faith. Biblically, green denotes faith. • YELLOW is used to highlight any information that is interesting and that you want to find at a later date. • A Box around a word or words is used to highlight key phrases, words or topics that you want to find at a quick glance later. NOTE: You may find that it looks neater to underline the text instead of highlighting. However, since it can be difficult to differentiate between the colors red and pink, you may want to highlight with pink, while underlining all other colors. This Bible marking system was created by Sally Hohnberger. www.empoweredlivingministries.org
